The original question is "why is there no option I need?". You added "is it possible to get the result I need with the tool I'm fixated on?" and "if yes, then what is the option I need?". The first question assumes there is no such option, so it shall not coexist with the other two. In the first place it would be way better to ask "how can I do this-and-that? preferably with
sort", unless "why?" is really really what you wanted to ask. Substantially changing the question after getting answer(s) is not graceful. IMO the question in its current form and with the current answers is a mess.
